EVANGELISM COMMISSION MINISTRY

Evangelism Commission is a ministry committed to spreading hope, sowing seeds, transforming lives, and delaying the decay of our culture by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ one person at a time. We are a ministry of action. Using our time, talents and treasures, to reach our community at the point of their needs.

Whether working in collaboration with or as a sole vessel, our ministry is always ready to share our spiritual gifts with God’s kingdom. We are proud partners of The WE CARE Church Fellowship which was established in 2020 during a time when our community needed reassurance that God remains forever faithful. From greeting our guest with a friendly welcome during worship or virtually, to partnering with various organizations to host our WE CARE festival, to sharing a refreshing drink and a word during our Cooling Waters Outreach initiative, to bringing the gospel to our seasoned saints of Brookhaven Retirement Home, to ensuring our youth are provided the opportunity to know God for themselves by way of our Hotchkiss Field Youth Recreation Outreach, to uniting in prayer in the heart of our community, our compassion to serve is one of our greatest assets.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, we offer Zoom and phone classes to accommodate your needs. The New Members Class is a fun class where we share and grow together. We are only a phone call away from getting you started on your Christian journey.

Work is the mission focus of our Federated Mission Organization efforts of serving the poor, the oppressed, imprisoned and neglected in our metropolitan area, state, nation and the world by advancing the cause of their liberation.

FOOD PANTRY – The Fifth Street Baptist Church Food Pantry is an on-going Ministry, providing non-perishable goods, by meeting emergency situations to persons living in the Highland Park community. During this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, services have been extended to other communities in the Richmond area. We are showing God’s love in a very practical way.

HEALTH GUILD – To provide the congregation and community with health services, information, and education.

THANKSGIVING BASKETS – To provide 100 Thanksgiving Community Baskets and 40 Fruit Baskets for our Sick and Shut-in members.

ANGEL TREE – Partners with the SALVATION ARMY to provide Christmas gifts for children and senior adults for families to place under their family Christmas tree. Our Angel Tree donations help keep joy and hope alive for local families.

Children and Youth Ministry

Mission Statement: The mission of the Children & Youth Ministry of the Fifth Street Baptist Church is to establish a foundation for building Christian character, morals, values and behaviors in young people; by using creative and innovative methods to excite, inspire, capture and ignite young people for Jesus. Our goal is to enable young people to understand and recognize who Jesus is and what it is to live for Him only.

Vision Statement: Our vision is to respond to the social and spiritual needs of the youth within our church and community by providing relative programs, activities and events that will allow them to build a strong foundation of faith. This will enable them to express and share their faith through their own words, actions and deeds and to encourage them to use their individual talents in programs and ministries that interest them in order to nurture their growth as people of faith while providing volunteer services to the community.
